Do We Breathe Differently With Our Masks On?
Many of us change the way we breathe, with masks on. Nose breathing is the best as it “filters, heats, and treats raw air unlike the mouth.” Reports from PN Medical, a company that produces respiratory muscle training a devices, indicate “inhaling through the nose stimulates the release of hormones and nitric oxide. This helps regular vital functions like blood pressure, and increases oxygenation throughout the body.
Wearing a mask can (in some) trigger the body to perform fast and shallow breaths in response to a feeling of reduced air flow. This type of breathing can cause one to breathe too rapidly (hyperventilation), making the person use their upper chest and neck muscles to breathe.
** TOMORROW WE WILL POST ABOUT WAYS TO PREVENT THIS SHORTNESS OF BREATH. IT’S VERY IMPORTANT TO CONTINUE TO WEAR YOUR MASKS WHEN YOU ARE IN PUBLIC!!!
