Having knee pain doesn't mean you have to hang up your running shoes
Strength training and balanced flexibility around the knee can help decrease pain and improve mechanical function in the knee.
Often times we notice a poor movement strategy that can be putting strain on one portion of the knee. And when corrected, the forces are absorbed evently in the joint, causing less pain. Imagine you have a papercut. It’s not a big deal unless you continually poke or stretch the wound. But if you don’t re-injure and aggravate the papercut, it gets better!
So what we look for in our evaluation is a poor movement strategy, and muscle imbalances. Once corrected (or improved) you may be able to lace up those shoes and hit the pavement!
