What is Achilles Tendonitis?
One of the most common complaints of pain we hear about is calf pain. Typically the pain appears in the tissue of the lower calf as it attaches to our heel known as the Achilles tendon. This important tendon allows us to push off the foot to walk, run and jump. Injury to the tendon can impede our everyday activities.
Achilles tendon pain could be the result of Achilles Tendinitis- acute inflammation typically with a sudden onset of symptoms such as a mild ache, increasing tightness of the calf and tendon which may increase with activity. Other symptoms include warmth, tenderness and swelling to touch. If left untreated symptoms could worsen.
